Where they live

Social, email and magazines

Sweepstakes live where attention already is. That is useful, because you do not have to hunt in strange corners, and it is a warning, because attention is crowded.

Social posts

A brand asks you to follow, tag, or comment a word. Sometimes that is the whole entry. Sometimes the comment is a caption in disguise. Read which. Tag only people who like this sort of thing. A real brand giveaway usually comes from the brand’s own account, with rules linked, an end date, and no request to pay a delivery fee.

Winning often means a direct message. Check the real account, not a lookalike that appears the same day. Claim links that ask for a card number are not claims. The longer version is on the scams page.

Newsletters

Email sweepstakes are the steadiest free stream for a lot of sweepers. You opt in, a prize appears on Thursday, you click through. The cost is inbox noise. Use the sweepstakes address from the first two weeks. Unsubscribe from lists that never offer anything you would take. Ten good newsletters beat forty you never open, because the ones you never open are not entries.

Magazines

Print still has quieter contests, especially in specialist titles: home, food, hobbies, regional life. You do not need every issue. The magazine you already pay for is enough to learn the rhythm. Write the issue date down. Print promotions sometimes run longer than a social post and are easier to enter correctly, because the rules sit on the same page as the prize.

One social account, checked twice a week. Newsletters, processed inside the daily session. Magazines, on the day they land. They are doors into the same habit, not three jobs.
